The Brigadoon Slides are the fastest, longest, most exhilarating slides I've ever ridden. Paired with a plastic tray, these slides are faster than gravity itself. I visited Brigadoon Park with my girlfriend when I was in the San Jose area. Even though a lot of kids playing were playing on it already, they were very open to sharing this ungodly speed machine.
The high walled slide on the left is a bit narrow and always squeezes my hips a little at the end, but overall it is a nice long ride. The real prize is the twin slides that accelerate at neck-breaking speeds and shoots you out into a pseudo padded landing area. Just remember to plant your feet as soon as you exit.
It all started about 4 years ago when my sister took me to a hidden gem of San Francisco, the Seward Street Slides. If you ever ridden down these slides, you know that this ain't just your normal plastic, static inducing, playground slide. Concrete slides are for the people who jaywalk without looking both ways or run down the up escalator, because it is made out of unforgiving concrete and made to go uncontrollably fast (especially when you use plastic trays).
Soon after riding it once, I realized that there is a whole other world of urban secrets to discover. Follow me as I explore different cities for more urban unknowns!
